Should Have Listened to Mom…

On a recent overcast morning, a mother mallard was swimming with her brood of 10 ducklings. She had her wings full keeping her little ones close.

Small, cute, fluffy, curious yet, somewhat oblivious of the dangers around them, three chicks strayed off on their own ignoring mom’s calls.

The little drifters followed a Blue-Winged teal couple who aggressively reminded them, with pecking and lunging, they were not welcome company! Uninjured, but finding all feathered types are not friendly, the strays found their way back to mom and siblings.

Thanks to their siblings’ misadventure, all the little fluffs knew it was time to fall in line and stuck close to mom as they swam as a group across the lake.
